If you are traveling with Kids and teens, they will generally be happier in large resort. There is a higher probability of finding others in same ages in the large resorts. A good beach, lively pool area, kids club, playground, game center and some ability to roam around within the resort, is often the best medicine for kids on holiday. The primary motivation is often to "lose my parents for a while", so why not give them that privilege. It's their holiday too. Most resorts cater to infants and toddlers but really few caters to the needs of parents with kids.
